A very simple technique is to use imagery to calm anxiety.  Images can stir many different emotions, one of them being peacefulness.  That is why using imagery to calm anxiety is a very simple, yet powerful tool.

Imagery is a method of distraction.  Distraction is a great way to turn off any negative thoughts or feelings you might be having.  Imagery is also a great way for the mind to “tell” your body what to do…  relax.

Any type of imagery will work, as long as it is peaceful to you.  A beach at sunrise, a paradise sunset, or a stream in the mountains.  Whatever images bring about a peaceful feeling that makes you smile and relax.  Some examples of peaceful imagery are below:
