Social Anxiety | You Have Rights!

If you suffer from social anxiety then you probably, subconsciously, also believe you have no rights.

You may not come right out and say you don’t have rights, but your actions may say differently.

You Have Rights!

  • Do you keep your feelings bottled up inside?
    • You have the right to express your feelings whether they are positive or negative.
  • Do you stay inside rather than sit outside or garden or hang clothes on the line?
    • You have the right to go anywhere and do anything as long as it isn’t illegal.  Gardening is not a crime.

Those are just 2 examples of what people with social anxiety need to start telling themselves.  Repeat after me, “I have rights!”

As long as you’re not breaking the law you have the right to be who you want to be and to be happy!

So, stop suffering from social anxiety and get out there and start exercising your rights!

Social Anxiety | You Can Handle College!

Social anxiety is an extreme fear of social situations and college is one big social situation!

There are hundreds of agonizing stories online of people with social anxiety dropping out of college or worse.

Sharing your dorm room, the pressures of fraternities and sororities, college life can be a huge challenge for someone with social anxiety.

Social Anxiety | You Can Handle College!

However, suffering from social anxiety doesn’t mean you cannot have the life you want.  You can handle college and reach your goals.

Stay focused on yourself and your goals constantly.  Don’t allow any negative thoughts, turn everything into a positive.

If you have to give a speech in front of class, keep telling yourself you will be one speech closer to your goal.  You will be 3 minutes (length of speech) closer to your goal.

Doctor, lawyer, teacher, or accountant, whatever your goal in life, that’s where you want to remain focused, and see yourself in X amount of years.

Take baby steps, live one moment at a time, turn every negative thought into a positive, and although you suffer from social anxiety, you can handle college!

Social Anxiety | Make Decisions!

Those suffering from social anxiety generally have a tough time making decisions.  Social anxiety or social phobia is an intense fear of social situations.

People suffering from social anxiety have an extreme fear of being judged by others, thus making decisions can be very hard.

Do you wear the black pants or the blue ones?  Do you wear stripes or polka dots?  How can you decide when negative thoughts keep racing through your head “telling” you why you shouldn’t wear either?

Make Decisions!

Whether you suffer from social anxiety or you just find making decisions difficult, it is time to stop, make a decision and move on.

If it’s a simple decision like which color pants to wear, pick the ones you want to wear.  Pick the ones you feel comfortable in and say to heck with everyone.

If you choose to wear black pants to visit your sister with 10 white cats make a mental note to bring a hair removal brush next time.  Don’t tell yourself it was stupid to wear the black pants.

I hope I am making sense.  Making decisions can be very frustrating, so stop second guessing yourself, stop saying your decision was stupid, and stop caring what other people think.
